Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 1 Review: Oh My God, It’s Actually Happening!
After a decade-long wait, the moment is here—or at least, it’s on the horizon! RockStar Games dropped Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 1 on December 4th, giving us a jaw-dropping first sneak peek into the future of GTA. In just 90 seconds, this trailer is packed with awesomeness. Let’s dive right in. But first, watch the trailer below.
Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 1 Leaked Ahead Of Scheduled Debut
Just hours before Rockstar’s scheduled debut of Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 1, an account (now suspended) made a daring move by leaking the trailer on X (formerly Twitter). However, Rockstar swiftly responded to the situation by promptly releasing the full trailer on its official YouTube channel.
This eagerly-awaited trailer confirms a multitude of details that have gradually emerged about GTA VI over the past two years. It officially sets the stage in Vice City and introduces the game’s first-ever female protagonist, along with captivating Bonnie and Clyde-inspired narrative elements. Sadly, the trailer states that Rockstar plans to release GTA VI in 2025. A subsequent press release from Rockstar confirms that the game will be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S in the same year. So, if you had your heart set on playing GTA VI next year, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
A decade in the making, GTA VI’s inaugural trailer could have been as simple as the Roman numeral for six, and it would have undoubtedly sparked fervent discussions and endless speculation. Fortunately, the trailer surpasses expectations as it showcases quintessential GTA elements: high-speed cars, chaotic gunfights, overflowing bundles of ill-gotten gains, and an overall flavor of American-style hedonism, all set against the vibrant backdrop of Vice City, a fictionalized take on Miami.
The spotlight of the trailer shines on a lone protagonist, introducing us to Lucia. She starts off in a prison jumpsuit, hinting at a criminal past, but then transitions to a life of crime with her boyfriend after what appears to be her release from incarceration.
Welcome to Leonida!
In a brief description from the press release, Rockstar tantalizingly mentions, “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond, in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”
The GTA VI reveal has been a roller coaster of leaked information. Earlier this year, authorities identified a teenager from the UK as the one responsible for last year’s leak, which spread 90 videos from the game’s development process. Moreover, just this week, a TikTok video emerged, purporting to show leaked footage from the game, supposedly originating from a Rockstar employee’s child. These TikTok videos, which are still available as of now, showcase wide shots of the game’s setting displayed on a computer monitor.
At the time of this post, not even 24 hours after the video went live, it already has over 86 million views. Insanity!
