Burger Shop Review: A Fresh Take on Classic Burgers
Happy Saturday, burger aficionados! In the heart of Iowa, tucked away in the bustling streets of Clive and Des Moines, lies a local gem known as the Burger Shop. With two convenient locations, this local restaurant has been serving up delicious burgers, fries, and more, making a name for itself in the local food scene. Today, I stopped in and tried the place out, so this is my “Burger Shop review” after my first visit.
Burger Shop Review
Food Quality and Taste
The star of my meal at the Clive location was undoubtedly the bacon cheeseburger. The bun was perfectly toasted, providing a satisfying crunch with each bite. The burger was juicy and cooked just right, and the bacon added a crispy, smoky element that took the burger to the next level. The American cheese was a classic choice, melting beautifully into the burger. The burger was a decent size, likely around 1/3 pound, and was satisfying without being overwhelming. The crinkle fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned, providing a great side to the burger. To wash it all down, I had a fountain Cherry Coke, which was a refreshing end to the meal. While it may not be the “best burger in Iowa,” it was certainly delicious and worth trying.
Menu Variety
The Burger Shop offers a wide variety of burgers, each served with onion, lettuce, and tomato. From the classic cheeseburger to the adventurous bacon PB burger and the spicy habanero cheeseburger, there’s something for every burger lover. They also cater to different dietary preferences with options like the black bean veggie burger and the turkey burger. Beyond burgers, the menu includes sandwiches, chicken wings, salads, wraps, and a selection of sides. They even offer milkshakes in classic flavors like chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla for a sweet end to your meal.
Service and Dining Experience
The service at the Burger Shop was efficient and friendly. It’s a typical order-at-counter setup, where you take a number and the staff brings the food to your table when it’s ready. Our orders came out promptly with no errors, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. While I didn’t try the takeout or delivery options, it’s worth noting that they are available for those who prefer to enjoy their burgers at home.
Ambiance and Accessibility
The Burger Shop has a friendly and modern ambiance. The building is clean and not too over-the-top, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. There’s plenty of parking available, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible, making it a convenient choice for all customers. With two locations at 1255 Northwest 128th Street suite 100, Clive, IA 50325 and 700 Locust St, Des Moines, IA 50309, the Burger Shop is easily accessible for residents in and around these areas.
Supporting Local
In a time when supporting local businesses is more important than ever, dining at the Burger Shop is a great way to contribute to the local community. The restaurant provides a great dining experience while also contributing to the local economy.
You can order Burger Shop for yourself online at their website.

Conclusion
Overall, I would give the Burger Shop a 4/5 star rating. While it may not be the best burger in the state, it’s certainly a solid choice for a tasty burger at an expectable price. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again, but I’d certainly stop in again if I was in the neighborhood and had a hankering for a decent burger. While B-Bops remains my favorite burger place in town, Burger Shop stands firmly in its spot among other non-fast food burger joints in the area.
